Off to Abu Dhabi on Sunday
www.fcbarcelona.cat
On Sunday morning, Barça will be flying to Abu Dhabi (Arab Emirates), the host city of the Clubs World Cup 2009. The travel details have been announced.
Just one day after the derby at the Camp Nou against Espanyol, Josep Guardiola and his men will be
off to Abu Dhabi, where they will be seeking to win the Clubs World Cup for the first time ever,
after two frustrated attempts. Also, on the 21st, they will play a friendly in Kuwait against Kazma
Sporting Club. So that means they will have nine busy days before the Christmas holidays.
Long journey
The Barça party will be expected to report to the Camp Nou at 10.00 am, for a
transfer to El Prat Airport. An hour later, they will be flying direct to their destination,
arriving at around 22.45. Once in Abu Dhabi, the squad will be taken straight to their hotel.
Intense first days
On Monday and Tuesday at 12.00 and 19.00 respectively, the first team will be
training for their first game on Wednesday. That’s when, at the Zayed Stadium, at 20.00, FC
Barcelona will play the winner out of Auckland City FC of New Zealand and Atlante of Mexico in the
World Clubs semi final.
Whatever the result, Barça will have two more training sessions, on Thursday at 12.00 and
Friday at 7.00 pm, in preparation either for the third place match or, hopefully, the final. These
games will be played at the Zayed Stadium at 17.00 and 20.00.
Friendly in Kuwait
Then on Sunday 20, the team is going to Kuwait for a friendly with the Kazma Sporting Club,
kicking off at 19.15. So, they will leave their hotel in Abu Dhabi at 15.00 to take a flight at
16.50 to the next country. They should arrive in Kuwait at about 17.30. On Monday 21, after the
friendly, Barça will fly back to Barcelona, arriving at 2.30 in the morning.
