The only unbeaten team
Jesús Carrillo
FC Barcelona is the most unbeaten team in all three top national leagues (La Liga, Segunda A and Segunda B). Nobody else has been unbeaten during the last 15 games.
In La Liga, Barça have now equalled the record established by Terry Venables’ side in the
1984-85 season. With the victory against Espanyol, Guardiola’s men have now been unbeaten on
a national level for 15 games. Also up there are Valencia, who have only one league defeat behind
them.
Segunda A
At the second level of national football, Real Sociedad and Hercules,
with ex-Barça player Esteban Vigo as coach, have the best records, losing only two games so far
this season.
Segunda B
In the third group, Sant Andreu have only lost one game. After Barça’s first team, they
are the Catalan side with the least defeats. In the first group, Eibar and Ponteferradina have only
lost once apiece, and in the second group Guadalajara have only lost two, as have Melilla in the
fourth.
Bayer Leverkusen, unbeaten in the Bundesleague
In other main European league, Leverkusen, led by Jupp Heynckes, remain unbeaten in Germany. In
England, France and Italy, Chelsea, Girondins and Inter Milan respectively have only lost once.
