Holidays at last!
Jordi Clos
The first team of FC Barcelona are now officially on holiday. The last players to sign off for Christmas were the Catalan internationals who faced Argentina in the Camp Nou.
After an historic year of unparalleled excitement and success, the FC Barcelona senior football
squad are now enjoying their Christmas break. Most of the players started their holidays directly
on returning from Kuwait while the Catalan internationals took part in the friendly against
Argentina on Tuesday.
The last match
Valdés, Puyol, Piqué, Busquets, Xavi and Bojan barely had time to draw
breath before pulling on the shirt of Catalonia to play Argentina in the Camp Nou. All of them
played an active role (at least in the first half) in Catalonia’s 4-2 defeat of Argentina, in
what was Johan Cruyff’s first game in charge of the national squad. Busquets played the full
90 minutes while Bojan scored his second goal in two days.
Back to work on Tuesday 29th
The players have a week’s holiday and report back for duty on
Tuesday 29th. The first training session is at 6 pm at the Club’s Sports Centre, where they
will begin their preparations for a hectic month of January. The first two matches will be in the
Camp Nou against Villarreal in the league and Sevilla in the Cup.
