Guardiola to reach 150 games
Edgar Fornós
The FC Barcelona manager will take charge of his 150th game at San Mamés in the Copa del Rey.
That means the Catalan will equalise the record of legendary 1950s boss Fernando Daucik, and will
become one of the six managers to have been on the bench the most times at the club.
Many celebrations
Speaking of the Guardiola era means speaking of success in a period
where he has rarely had to swallow the bitter pill of defeat. He has won 109 games, drawn 27 lost
just 13 times, winning eight titles in just a year and a half. From his opener against Wisla right
through to last Sunday’s win against Guardiola, it has been a triumphant period from
beginning to end.
Unbeaten in finals
Barça have yet to know what it is like to lose a major final without Guardiola in the
hotseat. The two first were in the 2008/09 season, where the Copa del Rey was won at Mestalla and
the Champions League in Rome. Last season, Barça added the Spanish and European Super Cups plus the
Clubs World Cup.
5 out of 5 against Madrid
Barça under Guardiola also have an impeccable record against the old
enemy. In five wins out of five, they have scored 16 goals and conceded just 2. These have included
the famous 5-0 win at the Camp Nou and the now legendary 6-2 at the Bernabeu two seasons ago.
