After an intense, tiring cup tie with Bilabo, the eleven players that started the game in San Mamés strained in the gym today rather than on the pitch.
With the side into the last eight of the cup, Josep Guardiola insisted that there was no
King’s Day holiday for his men. They need to recover from the exhilarations of San Mamés and
turn their minds to Deportivo.
Gym session
The session began in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper at 12.00 behind
closed doors, and the eleven players that started at San Mamés didn’t get involved, but
instead worked out in the gym.
12 men on the pitch
So there were only 12 players on the Ciutat Esportiva pitch, then ten reserves last night and
two from the B team, Thiago Alcántara and Jordi Masip.
Maxwell back
Maxwell, who missed the Bilbao game with a groin strain, was one of the group that trained
normally today.
