Villa: “We all have to be important”
Aida Soriano
Barça striker Davi Villa, the first man on target tonight at Riazor, has spoken about how important it is for everyone to be involved in a team that has no intention of giving up.
Against Deportivo la Coruña, David Villa opened the scoring with a goal from a Leo Messi assist
(min 26). It was full steam ahead from then on
(0-4)
and the Asturian added that “I am very happy to have scored and helped the team
again”.
Goal 150
His goal against Depor was his 150th in the first division. Asked about
the way the squad was rotated tonight, he said “we have done that all season … We all
have to be important … Today Busquets and Xavi stayed on the bench, but the team
resisted”.
Amazing away form
Asked about the team’s one hundred per cent record away from home, Villa said
“it’s amazing. It was an important achievement and we are happy with what we have
done”.
The following are some of the statements made by the players after the game:
Gerard Piqué
“In the first half it looked like we were in control, but they
could have scored at any time. But we dominated in the second half and Leo’s goal meant we
could relax and we were in total control”.
“We are always well focused when we play away because we know how difficult it
is”.
“When we play like that, it’s hard to beat us”.
“We are taking each game as it comes, The team has to be effective”.
“Afellay looked condident, and with a few games, I’m sure he’ll do
well”.
Andrés Iniesta
“It was a complete game, we looked safe and we are still top of
the league”.
“I want to thank the fans for the affection they showed at Riazor”.
“Things are going well and that’s important. Our challenge is to keep this up for
as long as possible and make it through to the final months when we win titles”.
“But there is no time to relax”.
Carles Puyol
“It was a very difficult game against a very good team and we had
to play well. We played a serious game”.
“It is very hard to win every away game. The team is very keen and we shouldn’t
conform to what we’ve got”.
“The squad is small, but they are very good players, versatile and then there are
players in the youth team that are incredible”.
