Xavi, Iniesta and Messi, as well as the other Club representatives at the Ballon D’Oro award ceremony in Zurich, have arrived at the Swiss city after their planes landed this lunchtime.
January 10th 2011 will be a day that goes down in the Club’s history, as a home grown player
lifts the FIFA award with two other Barça products at his side.
With the ceremony due to begin at 18.30 this evening, a
Barça player is bound to carry off the main prize, but there is also the matter of the Manager of
the Year Award, the FIFApro best 11 of the year and the Goal of the Season to be decided.
From La Masia to Switzerland
The Barça party flew to Zurich in two planes: the first, with a
party of Directors, ex-coaches and players including past winners Luis Suárez and Hristo Stòitxkov
was headed by President Sandro Rosell and left Barcelona at 11.15, after the party had met up at
the Masia –a symbolically key spot for today’s celebrations.
Players arrive
The three candidates, accompanied by Villa, Puyol and
Piqué, who are candidates for the FIFApro ideal 11, along with friends and family arrived in Zurich
at two in the afternoon after a quiet flight, in contrast to the hectic round of press conferences,
photo shots and the Award ceremony itself that the players will be involved in this afternoon.
