Iniesta: “This is a historic day”

Just before boarding the plane for Zurich for this afternoon’s award ceremony, Andrés Iniesta told reporters: “this is a historic day”.

Iniesta believes that today is: “special, beautiful and historic, because it will never happen again”.

Privileged

Iniesta already feels privileged just to be in the top three for the Award and especially proud to be accompanying Messi and Xavi: “right now I feel I’ve been given a prize just to be amongst the top three, particularly with my two teammates. Whatever is decided I will be happy”.

A day to enjoy

Iniesta stressed the importance of enjoying the day in Zurich: “we are going there to enjoy a lovely day, which will be special for us all. It’s clear that whoever wins it, will deserve it and we we all three be happy. This is a day to enjoy and remember so many people who have given us their support”.

Asked whether he’d ever given any thought as to what it would be like to win, Iniesta claimed: “well, there’s always a chance, as there’s only three of us in it, but we’ll just have to see”.
