Pep Guardiola’s birthday is a good moment to stop and reflect on the records his teams have smashed since he took over.


Guardiola’s success goes beyond the many titles the team have won - 8 of the 10 they’ve been involved in- as the list of records below shows.

SPANISH RECORDS 

►In 2009, the team won the most titles ever – 6 : Spanish Cup, Spanish League, Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, European Super Cup and World Club Cup. (A world record).

►Only Spanish team to win the treble - Spanish Cup, Spanish League and Champions League in 2008/09.

►Highest number of points and goals scored in the first half of a season -52 points and 61 goals (17 victories, 1 draw and 1 defeat).

►Highest points scored in the history of the Spanish League: 99 in 2009/10 (record in all European leagues)

►Most wins in a Spanish League campaign - 31 in 2009/10, the same number as Real Madrid in the same season.

►Most away wins in a Spanish League season: 13 in 2008/09 (13 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats).

►Most consecutive away wins – 13 games between 21st September 2008 and 11th January 2009, the team won 13 times in successive away games: 8 in the Spanish League (Sporting de Gijon, Espanyol, Athletic Club, Malaga, Recreativo, Seville, Villarreal and Osasuna), 3 the Champions League (Shakhtar, Basle and Sporting Clube) and two in the Spanish Cup (Benidorm and Atlético de Madrid).

►Longest run of successive away wins on the road in the Spanish League: 9 wins against Sporting de Gijon, Espanyol, Athletic Club, Malaga, Recreativo, Seville, Villarreal, Osasuna and Racing in the 2008/09 campaign. The record has also been equalled this season with nine wins at Racing de Santander, Atlético de Madrid, Athletic de Bilbao, Zaragoza, Getafe, Almería, Osasuna, Espanyol and Deportivo(this run is still not finished).

►Highest number of away goal scored in a Spanish League season - 44 goals in the 2008/09 campaign.

►Best ever Spanish League goal difference +74 in 2009/10.

►Most wins in a season: 45 out of 59 games in the 2009/10 season.

►First half of a Spanish League season without a defeat – 15 wins and 4 draws in the 2009-10 campaign.

►Highest number of goals scored in an away game in the Spanish League: UD Las Palmas 0 - FC Barcelona 8 (25/10/1959) and UD Almería 0 FC Barcelona 8 (11/20/2010).

CLUB RECORDS

►Highest number of goals scored in a Spanish League season:
105 in the 38 games of the 2008/09 season. Spanish record held by Real Madrid with 107 in 1989/90.

►Longest unbeaten period in the Spanish League – the first 21 games of the 2009/10 season(17 victories y 4 draws). Spanish record held by Real Sociedad with 32 in 1979/80.
