Messi keeps on climbing goal scorers table
Edgar Fornós
Messi continues to climb the Barça all time goal scorers table, with his brace against Hercules taking him to 109 La Liga goals, one more than Eto’o. His total in all competitions of 164 takes him level with Escolà.
The Argentinean is scoring in nearly every game – no real surprise there, but he is also
gradually setting a place for himself in the Club goal scoring history. He is now joint fourth in
the all time scorers list alongside Escolà on 164, with only César (235), Kubala (194) and Josep
Samitier (178) ahead of him, whilst in La Liga his 109 strikes make him the Club’s third
leading league scorer, behind Kubala (131) and César (195).
Below are more facts and figures from the Hercules – Barça game:
Unbeatable away from home
Ten out of ten wins on the road so far this season is an extraordinary
record for Guardiola’s team, who have conceded just four goals in those ten games.
Pedro keeps on getting better!
Once more, Pedro has bettered himself with the goal in Alicante he made
it seven games on the run that he’s scored in. Six of those have come in league games
-something no Barça player has done since Ronaldo in the 1996/97 season – and the other in
the Cup tie with Almeria. In all he’s bagged nine goals in those seven games.
He’s now got 19 in all competitions this season, just four short of his own record of
23 set last season and he is the team’s second leading scorer behind Messi.
Half a season unbeaten
The only team capable of beating Barça this season were Hercules and with
Saturday’s win, Barça can boast a whole half season of games undefeated.
Sergio equals Puyol’s record
After signing a new deal with the Club on Thursday, the win on Saturday was the
team’s 21st consecutive win with Sergio Busquets on the pitch, equalling the Club record set
by Carles Puyol.
