With Dani Alves suspended, Pep Guardiola is going to have find somebody to replace him. Adriano Correia is the most obvious option to stand in for his compatriot in the right back position.
Unbeaten in Mallorca
Adriano has played Mallorca in Palma before. Wearing the Sevilla shirt he appeared there four
times, winning once and drawing the other three. So Adriano has yet to experience defeat on the
island.
With Dani Alves unavailable against Mallorca, the FC Barcelona coach
already said after the game with Athletic Bilbao that “we have Adriano in the squad, and so
the normal thing would be for him to play in Palma next Saturday. However, we will have to look at
all the options”.
8 league matches
The versatile Brazilian has played eight league games so far, in which he played the full 90
in two (Deportivo and Racing Santander). In the other games he has come off the bench. Of these
eight games involving Adriano, Barcelona have won seven.
Cup scorer
The former Sevilla man scored his first goal for his new club in the
Copa del Rey at Almeria’s Juegos Mediterráneo. His goal opened the scoring in that game, in a
competition in which Guardiola has used the Brazilian fairly regularly, with six appearances in
eight games. Adriano has also been involved in three Champions League games, twice as a starter,
and provided an assist for one goal.
