The first team returned to training on Friday with the aim of preparing for the derby on Sunday. Bojan joined the group to train with the rest of his teammates.
After qualifying, last Tuesday, for the Champions League Final on May 28th at Wembley, the players
had 2 days off, and returned to training this Friday. The team trained at the Joan Gamper training
ground at 11.00 in the first of three preparatory sessions scheduled by the coaching staff before
Sunday's league match at the Camp Nou against Espanyol.
Without doubt, and for what was seen in the first 15 minutes of the training session, which
was open to the press, the good news of the day was to see Bojan Krkic participating with rest of
the group. Bojan was injured on April 9th in the game against Almeria at the Camp Nou. The striker
was diagnosed with a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and was scheduled
to be out for 6 to 8 weeks.
Puyol, Adriano and Maxwell, away from the group; Milito in the gym
P
uyol, along with Adriano, recovering from a hamstring injury to his right thigh and
Maxwell, recovering from a groin strain, did some specific recovery work away from the group, with
one of the Barcelona recovery coaches. The only absence on the training ground was Milito, who was
in the gym doing some specific excercises to help him recover from a torn hamstring in his left
thigh.
Happy Birthday Alves
At the very beginning of the session, the 20 first team players and Barça B player
Thiago, plus members of the coaching staff, got together in the middle of the field to cheer Dani
Alves on his 28th birthday today.
UEFA Anti-Doping Control
For the third time so far this season, UEFA performed a surprise anti-doping test
after the session. Ten players took the test: Valdés, Piqué, Puyol, Villa, Iniesta, Bojan, Jeffren,
Keita, Adriano and Abidal.
