Interviewed on Barça TV’s “El Marcador” programme after the Espanyol game, Sergio Busquets made it clear that even though they only needed one point for the title, the team would go to Llevant: “ looking for a win and the three points”.
Abidal’s doctors receive squad applause
After the game, the medical team who treated Eric Abidal -Doctors Josep Fusté, Juan Carlos García
Valdecasas, Joana Ferrer and Xavi Forns -were received by Xavi Hernandez at the entrance to the
changing rooms and the whole squad then gave them a sincere round of applause for their efforts
with the team’s French defender.
The team will be back in training on Monday at 11.00 behind closed doors. Victor Valdes will
speak to the media following the session.
Busquets warned. “no game is easy, but it’s always great to win and we’ll be
after the three points in Llevant – this team only knows how to go out for a win – we
have shown we are a winning team”.
“We’ll go for the league”
Busquets was also optimistic about the team’s chances at Wembley
–“we’ll give the fans something to cheer about, but first we have to focus on the
league. It may not be as prestigious as the Champions League, but it is the competition which
reflects your consistency throughout the season “. There’s already been comparisons
made between Guardiola’s team and the famous Dream Team of the 90s, but Busquets reckons:
“we’ll have to wait and see if we are better or worse than the Dream Team, but
it’s true that we are marking an era with the titles we are winning”.
