Bojan Krkic began the fightback against Malaga tonight with his penalty strike just before the break and afterwards he explained that the match “would help me get back to full match fitness” ahead of next week’s Wembley game.
Jeffren off as a precaution
Jeffren suffered a slight hamstring strain and was substituted as a precaution n the 66th minute.
At the end of the game, Dani Alves and Javier Mascherano went through a routine doping test.
The players have a day off on Sunday and return on Monday at 19.00 for a training session as
part of the Open Media Day at the Camp Nou.
Bojan took the captain’s armband this Saturday - something he also did in the Cup games
against Ceuta earlier this season - and although there wasn’t anything really at stake, he
put in a complete performance over the full 90 minutes, something he really needed after the injury
he suffered from over the last few weeks had kept him out of the team.
Feeling good
Bojan explained: “this was a game to enjoy and get in some match practice.
I’m very happy with my performance and I am feeling very good ahead of the game next week. My
aim is to help the team right up until the very last moment. It was a blow to get injured, but you
have to be positive and now we have the Wembley final to come. I don’t know if I will play,
but I will try and be there in case I am needed at any point”.
José Manuel Pinto
“We beat the record of away wins - that’s something else for
our curriculum”.
“We are all excited about Wembley. We will all work hard and with a cool head”.
“It wasn’t a vital game, but it is always good to finish by giving a good account
of yourselves”.
“I won’t be on the pitch at Wembley in person, but my heart will be out
there”.
Marc Bartra
“I am very happy. I’ve helped the team to a new record of away wins and
scoring a goal makes it even better”.
“I said before that tactically, this is very similar to the B team. We found it hard at
the start, but as the game went on we began to adapt more".
