The players spoke to the crowd at the Camp Nou tonight after their victory parade through the city streets and they all sent out the same message of thanks to the supporters who’ve backed them all season.
The players really appreciated the effect that the twelfth man that the crowd can become has had
this season and in their speeches at the ground they made it clear that without it they could never
have achieved so much.
Carles Puyol
“Thank you for being here. We said we would come back. Celebrate these titles
because it takes a lot to win them. Visca el Barça i Visca la Pobla.”
Josep Guardiola
“Welcome. Thank you to everybody who has accompanied us: to those who were
lucky enough to get tickets and came to London, to those of you here tonight…. and to all the
fans who’ve been with us all through the season. We feel very close to you all. We’ll
do it again next year through our effort”.
Lionel Messi
“I said I’d speak and here I am. But I’ve got nothing
to say! Let’s celebrate and let’s hope we can repeat it many more times. Visca el Barça
i Visca Catalunya.”
Xavi Hernández
“I’ve got no more words left. Thank you so much. This team is great.
I’ve always been proud of being Catalan and a Barça fan –and now more so than
ever!”
Éric Abidal
“Good evening to everyone, Thank you for your support throughout the season.
Thank you team, especially our captains, who made a wonderful gesture yesterday by giving me the
armband. It was the best day in my sporting life. Lifting up this trophy is incredible! Visca el
Barça i Visca Catalunya.”
Andrés Iniesta
“Good evening. I want to thank you for support. Without you all, these
trophies are not possible. Thank you for being alongside the team. My heart says that the best
thing in the world is to be a Barça fan and I’m proud to be one! Visca el Barça i Visca
Catalunya.”
Víctor Valdés
“There’s just a small detail missing! (he then puts the
Catalan flag round the trophy). Now it’s good. We owed you one and here you have it, all the
way from Wembley for all of you here. Enjoy it! Visca el Barça and especially, Visca
Catalunya.”
Gerard Piqué
“I’ll be very short tonight. A friend of mine said just say one thing,
so here it is: we don’t take drugs, we don’t dive, we don’t buy the refs. We just
play football. Visca el Barça i Visca Catalunya. I’ll see you all at Shakira’s concert
tonight”.
Pedro Rodríguez
“We were really excited about sharing this win with the fans. I always stress
the importance of the collective. Without my teammates, I couldn’t score those goals. The
most important thing was to win the title and dedicate it to these great fans. We have been
gradually improving and we had a big challenge with the games against Madrid. It was a pity we lost
the Cup Final. I want to dedicate this to my family and all the fans”.
