Guardiola to sign contract extension on Wednesday

Board spokesman Toni Freixa has announced that manager Josep Guardiola will sign a contract extension this Wednesday.
The much awaited announcement that Guardiola will renew his contract with the club came this
Tuesday following a board meeting at the Nou Camp and was given by board spokesman Toni Freixa,
Guardiola gave his word in January to the previous board of directors that he would stay on
at the club for at least another season.
Unstoppable rise to success
Guardiola
is a product of the Barca youth system and as a player he was a key figure at the club, which
he returned to as Barca Atletic coach on 21st June 2007 to take the team to title success and
promotion in his first season.
Seven titles in two years
His success with the youngsters at Barca Atletic made him a natural choice to succeed
Frank Rijkaard
in charge of the first team when the Dutch manager left in 2008. Guardiola was unveiled as the
new manager on June 17th 2008 and in his first season he went on to win every title possible:
League, Cup and Champions League.
In his second season, Guardiola oversaw the team’s winning of both the domestic and
European Super Cups, the retention of the League title and the club’s first ever World Club
Cup, notching up an incredible seven titles in two years as manager.
