Medical tests for Monday

The squad will undergo a series of medical tests on the first day of pre-season training, including echocardiographs, electrocardiograms, strength and chiropody testing.

The 28 players called up by Josep Guardiola will report to the Ciutat Esportiva at 08.45 and begin their medical tests at 09.00. The players will also travel to the club’s medical facilities at the Nou Camp for some of the tests, including tests of weight and percentage of fats in the body.

Checks on hearts

The echocardiographs will be used to study the heart cavities and functioning of the valves, whilst the hearts’ general performance will be assessed by the electrocardiograms. The strength test will be used to check the overall fitness of the players and how their hearts react to the effort.
