Alves: “Spain game is unfair”
David Saura (special correspondent)
Daniel Alves believes that Barça's Spanish players are being treated unfairly after seven of them were called up for the forthcoming international only days after returning to pre-season training.
The Brazilian is surprised that the World Cup winners are playing again so soon after the squad
have returned to their respective clubs, but thinks that the Spanish Football Federation must have
their reasons for agreeing to
the game against Mexico
in the Azteca Stadium on August 11.
"It is a bit unfair," he said. "It is not a decision I understand. I am
sure that there are good reasons and that there is a price to pay for being world champions. But it
is not something I can say too much about it as it is not my business. It is just part of life as a
footballer."
On his second visit to China Alves revealed that he enjoyed the experience with Sevilla and
is happy to be back with FC Barcelona. "It is great coming here," he explained. "They treat us with
great respect and I want to thank everyone for all that."
All thought out
Adriano Correia accompanied Alves to the Nike promotional event in
Beijing and was also asked about Spain's controversial game. "It is a long way to go," he
explained. "They have not yet begun training and yet they are called back into the Spain squad."
Barça will continue to prepare for the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla and
Adriano believes that the club will cope. "I am sure it has already been all thought out," he
continued. "If those players are not available there are others here who can all play."
World Cup aim
As well as playing alongside Alves for Barça each week Adriano would
also like to do so at international level. "I would like to go to the next World Cup with Brazil,"
he commented. "I will work hard with Barça to achieve that. I am delighted to be at the best club
in the world. We are prepared for any challenge. I am new here and want to write my name in the
history of Barça."
