Villa makes Camp Nou bow
Anna Segura
David Villa now knows what it is like to play in Camp Nou and wear the FC Barcelona shirt after the Asturian striker made his home debut for the Blaugrana in the Spanish Super Cup triumph over Sevilla on Saturday evening.
After winning the World Cup last month Villa can now write August 21, 2010 into his career history
after fulfilling what he has claimed is a lifelong dream as he appeared for Barça in a home game
for the first time since his transfer from Valencia earlier in the summer.
Minute 56
In the 56th minute coach Pep Guardiola chose to make a double
substitution as Villa lined up alongside Andrés Iniesta on the touchline having warmed up down the
side of the pitch as his new team-mates bounced back from a first leg defeat to take the lead on
aggregate against Sevilla.
Standing ovation
The Barça fans rose to their feet as one and gave a loud cheer as Villa
ran onto the pitch. There was to be no heroic goal to announce his arrival, but the forward had his
chances and had a hand in the move that led to the fourth goal of the evening.
