Gerard Piqué was happy with the win in Zaragoza and in general with the start the team have made on the road this season: “we’re on a good run and this is another example of how well the team is working”.
Piqué also reckons: “with big teams like Barça it sometimes seems that if we don’t win,
it’s a catastrophe”. As to tonight’s experience with a three man defence, the
World Cup winner commented: “it worked and with one less at the back it was actually easier
to deal with the game”
Below are some of the players’ post match reactions:
Leo Messi:
“La Romareda is a tough ground and we were up against a strong and aggressive
team”.
“We won, which is what was important - we have to keep on like that”.
“Villa is fine and relaxed, but the goals will come”.
Pedro:
“It was a difficult ground, but we played a good game and got a good result”.
“We were superior in midfield and that was even clearer when they went down to 10 men.
The boss set it up really well”.
“Villa made a good assist for Leo. He’s playing well and the goals will come.
It’s logical that he’s hungry for goals, but he’s relaxed about it”.
“Messi is a great player - he’s still the best in the world and he shows that
with every game”.
“I’m getting better - I’m feeling good and now I need to get back to match
fitness”.
Andrés Iniesta:
“We really value that win. We continue to chalk up wins and it’s important to
keep on winning and stay up at the top”.
“You have to look after yourself to ensure that you can get through the long
season”.
“It’s important for us to have tactical variations because the other teams also
study how we play”.
“It’s hard to play at 100% always because there are a lot of factors involved,
butthe team does its best to play as well as we can”.
Thiago Alcántara:
“I wanted to take advantage of this chance and I’ll be there when I’m
needed. I try and give my best whenever I’m with these players “.
“I’m getting experience playing with them, who are so modest. I’m, really
learning from games like this and in training”.
“We are hungry for titles and goals”.
Víctor Valdés:
“I’m fine now, it was just a day and a half, but it was pretty nasty”.
“Their red card helped us control things in the second half and meant that they lowered
their intensity”.
“The boss is a maestro and he surprises us sometimes with things like this. Look, you
have to say he was right and it worked out fine -he’s unique !”
Dani Alves:
“We happy –we knew it would be a tough ground”.
“I played a bit higher up the pitch, I feel comfortable there and it’s so easy to
play alongside these players”.
“We have to be prepared for everything and the boss changed things round, but I felt
comfortable with that”.
“I felt him hit me. Somebody said I was play acting, but I just don’t understand
things like that”.
