Seven training as normal

The seven FC Barcelona first-team players that have not travelled to Ceuta trained at the Ciutat Esportiva complex on Tuesday morning alongside five youth team starlets.

Pep Guardiola left various high profile names out of his squad for the trip south to play in the Copa del Rey first leg encounter and so Víctor Valdés, Dani Alves, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi and David Villa all trained as normal.

The session, on pitch number 2, was overseen by fitness trainers Paco Seirul•lo and Lorenzo Buenaventura as the majority of the coaching staff are on the journey to Ceuta. The five youngsters promoted to pad out the numbers were Jordi Masip and Carlos from the juvenil sides and Cristian Tello, Armando Lozano and Martín Montoya from the B team.

Like on Monday Valdés began by working away from the rest of the players as he continues with his specific recovery programme. Xavi and Gaby Milito worked in the gymnasium as they also look to shake off knocks.
