Maxwell opens official account
Roger Bogunyà
Maxwell will always have fond memories of the Copa del Rey encounter with Ceuta after he scored his first official goal for FC Barcelona in the 0-2 triumph on Tuesday evening.
Pep Guardiola named the Brazilian in the line-up for the first leg match
and he stood out as he scored the opening goal of the night and then set up Pedro for the second as
the Blaugrana eased to victory. Maxwell has scored once before in the Catalan club’s colours,
but that came in a friendly against Valerenga.
Good move
The goal came after 15 minutes of the game and was the culmination of an impressive
team move. Bojan Krkic provided the final pass to find Maxwell and the full-back beat the keeper
for the first official time in 47 matches. “It was a good move with Bojan,” Maxwell
said. “I have scored an important goal for myself and for the team.”
History books
At his previous clubs Maxwell did score too, but he only managed one in five years
while with Ajax in Amsterdam and during three seasons at Inter he netted just two.
