Training for non travellers
Sandra Sarmiento / Anna Segura
The seven first team players that did not travel to Ceuta had training this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva. Guardiola also called upon 14 reserve team players.
The plane from Ceuta did not reach Barcelona until 3.00 am, but Pep Guardiola and his assistant,
Tito Vilanova, were fresh and ready this morning to train with the players that were not involved
in the cup game. Sant Joan Despí was the venue, as it had been on Tuesday.
Fitness work
Alves, Sergio Busquets, Villa, Iniesta, Messi, Valdés and Piqué were
the first temaers on pitch number 1 at the Ciutat Esportiva. After warming up, everybody apart from
Valdés concentrated on fitness exercises.
Valdés had more specific goalkeeping training, which he did with his coach Carles Busquets.
14 reserves
The first team players were joined on the pitch by 14 reserve team players in
Rochina, Martí Riverola, Benja, Ilie, Tello, Edu Oriol, Oriol Romeu, Saúl, Carmona, Jonathan
Soriano, Montoya, Víctor Vázquez, Carles Planas and Miño, the latter despite having travelled to
Ceuta.
Separate work for Xavi and Milito
The injured Xavi and Milito are still working to get back to full
fitness and although they did appear at the Ciutat Esportiva, they worked separately with fitness
coaches.
