Alves: “It’s always a good thing to win points”
Anna Segura
Dani Alves was not in the slightest bit upset to ‘only’ get a point in Copenhagen. Instead he was proud that Barça had won a point on such a difficult trip.
Where the players were all agreed was that it was a tough blow that Copenhagen equalised so soon
after Barça had scored. As Dani Alves said "they found a goal to draw back level very quickly. It
didn’t give us time to enjoy the goal we had scored ".
High intensity
Speaking about the game, Alves said "we knew it would be tough. They are an intense
team". But the Barça defender added that “it is always good to get points. We are proud of
the effort we put in … in such a tough game, the worst thing would have been to get no
points".
Carles Puyol:
"We knew it would be a tough game"
"It is a shame they equalised so quickly. I think that was important".
"But we still played well".
"We would have preferred to have qualified. That was the aim today".
"We came here to get the three points. We are still leaders".
"I’m OK after the knock. I don’t know if he meant it or not. They played to the
limit, yet they are the ones who talk about fair play".
Andrés Iniesta:
"It’s a shame we didn’t get the three points".
"The equaliser meant we never had time to enjoy our lead".
"It was an intense game. It was a tough game in which we just went out
for the three points".
"We knew that if we won, it would have been as good as sorted, but now we’ll go to
Greece to get the three points and the sooner we qualify the betters ".
"One point and we’re still top. We wanted the three points to practically sort
everything out. But that’s what the Champions League is all about".
"Copenhagen are doing well in the Champions League. It is an intense and serious team that
always rises to the occasion”.
"The Champions League is demanding. Every game is difficult and you pay for any
mistakes!”
"We are still top and our fate is in our own hands".
David Villa:
"We know the Champions League isn’t easy. It would have been nice to qualify,
but we have to be realistic and there are no easy grounds”.
"There is a judge, and everything goes in football until the referee interrupts. They are the
ones who decide who each and every one of us plays”.
"We are annoyed because Pinto didn’t deserve this. Perhaps Pinto is their way of
finding an excuse".
"We had lots of chances. We owned the ball, but Copenhagen defended well”.
"We found the game very physical, but the opposition played very well”.
"It is hard when the home side is so well supported by it’s people and when they are
happy with a draw”.
