Best ever away win start equalled

The 8-0 win at Almeria has equalled the greatest ever league away win in Barça history. FCB also won 8-0 away under Helenio Herrera (1959).

That record win was in Las Palmas in the 1959/60 season. Goals from Messi (3), Bojan (2), Iniesta, Pedro and Acasiete (own goal) mean Pep Guardiola’s side has equalled a record that never looked likely to be matched ever.

51 years later

The date was October 25, 1959. In the seventh game of the season, Barça beat Las Palmas thanks to goals from Luis Suárez (3), Evaristo (2), Eulogio Martínez, Gensana and Villaverde. The side was managed by Helenio Herrera and went on to win their second consecutive league title.

Eight goals in UEFA 2003

It’s the biggest win of the Guardiola era, and the first time Barcelona have scored eight since October 15, 2003, against Matador Puchov at the Camp Nou in the first round of the UEFA Cup (8-0). Barça’s last eight-goal spree in the league was against Logroñés in 1996/97.
