Puyol and Busquets assure victory

Carles Puyol and Sergio Busquets are not only great players but have now become talismen this season as with the pair in the Blaugrana side the team has always won.

It is often difficult to measure the true contribution of each player, but now the statistics show just how crucial the central defender and midfielder are in league matches as they have yet to be participate in a game where Barça have dropped points.

Missed out

A shortened pre-season thanks to Spain's success in the World Cup and a slight injury picked up in training with la Selección meant that Puyol was unable to start the season for FC Barcelona as planned.

Instead, the Blaugrana captain missed the matches at Racing and at home to Herculés as well the encounter with Real Mallorca. Since his return in the fourth game Barça have won every outing.

Busquets appreciated

Busquets may not be as high profile just yet as some of Barça's more famous forwards, but the defensive midfielder is seen as equally important by the club coaches, his team-mates and the loyal followers in Camp Nou.

Now the record books also point to his importance as the homegrown star has started every league bar three this term. After being on the bench against Herculés, Real Mallorca and Almería, Busquets has helped FC Barcelona to win every game in which he has started.
