Villa: "We knew we had all the cards"
Aida Soriano
After his two goals against Espanyol, David Villa confessed that before the match the team knew “we had all the cards to win the match” if they just stuck to their normal game plan.
After playing the full 94 minutes and bagging his 10th and 11th goals
of the season, Villa was “very happy. I’m a striker and there’s no doubt about
it, when I score I feel a little more complete”, whilst insisting: “the main thing
though is that the team keep on winning”,
Confident
Villa continued: “we were confident before
the game
in ourselves and the way we play football . We knew if we played as we can, we had all
the cards to win the match”.
Andrés Iniesta also spoke to reporters and below are his comments:
“It’s a very nice feeling to be so well received. I could
feel the fans’ warmth towards me down on the pitch and I’m happy that they showed that
people can rise above any rivalry”.
“We didn’t expect such a big win because these games are always so intense and
tight, but we took advantage of the spaces we were given and the front men were on target”.
“I’d like to think that we can still grow and go on to win even more titles.
There’s still a long way to go and we have to ensure we keep going till the end of the
season”.
“The goals are down to the whole team, from the defence through to the attackers- If
you come out playing the ball from the back is more comfortable and the midfielders feel it easier
to make the passes. The essential thing is getting the balance right”.
