Five Barça players in ‘L’Équipe’ Team of 2010

Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta and Leo Messi are the five Barça players included in the 2010 Team of the Year of the French magazine ‘L’Équipe’.

International recognition continues to rain down on the Barça team and the prestigious French sports magazine ‘L’Équipe’ is the latest organisation to honour Guardiola’s team, with five players named in its Team of the Year for 2010.

Piqué

The magazine reckons that Piqué’s understanding with Carles Puyol, “has been crucial both for FC Barcelona and Spain’s brilliant 2010”.

Busquets

Sergio Busquets also receives fulsome praise, claiming: “the Spain and Barça midfielder is a vital guarantee of balance in both teams, occupying a position which demands precision, calmness, a cool head and intelligence”.

Xavi and Iniesta

According to ‘L’Équipe’, Xavi is: “a marvellous player, inseparable from his team mate Iniesta, who is one of the symbols of a particular style of football“, referring to Barça’s brilliant philosophy of the game.

Messi, “a gift for fans”

As to Leo Messi, the magazine reckons: “he’s a player who makes the exceptional seem normal. With every game his presence is a gift to fans all over the world”.
