FC Barcelona and Sporting Clube de Portugal have reached agreement on the transfer of Jeffren Suarez, signing a deal for 3,750.000 Euros, plus 200,000 Euros in variables and a possible 20% of any sell on value of the player.
The agreement includes a buy back option of 8 million after the first year and of 12 million at the
end of the 2012-13 season.
Jeffren Suárez came to Barça in 2004 from Tenerife, where his technical qualities and
strength caught Barça’s eye and he never doubted for a moment that the move was right for
him.
Up trhough the ranks
He started out in the Youth B team at Barça and soon moved up through
the reserve teams to make his debut for Frank Rijkaard in the 2006-07 season in the Spanish Cup. A
year later he was under the orders of Josep Guardiola in the B team and the boss later promoted him
to the first team. He made his league debut against Mallorca and in the next season he made 12
appearances and getting two league goal.
Versatile
Jeffren is primarily left-footed, but he is also skilful with his right and his
speed and skill both as a winger and as a right back has proved important for the team. Jeffren is
a versatile player who is prepared to play in any position required so long as it is to help the
team.
