As well as seeing the big stars in action, another of the attractions of the Gamper was seeing some of the Barça B players get their chance. Sergi Roberto and Kiko both said they were thrilled to get to play their part.
Training on Tuesday
The first team returns to training on Tuesday at 19.00, in what will be their first session in
preparation for the European Supercup match in Monaco on Friday against Porto. The venue will be
the Ciutat Esportiva.
“It is amazing to play at the Camp Nou”, said Sergi Roberto after the match. “It
is incredible to play next to these players”, added Kiko Femenía. Both played in Monday
night’s Joan Gamper. The first was delighted to have been given his chance by Guardiola.
“I got back from the World Cup on Tuesday and now I’m playing, I can’t
complain” he said.
Kiko: “Guardiola has been good to me”
Kiko Femenía, one of the debutants along with Cesc Fàbregas said that: “at
first I was a bit nervous, but after my team mates helped me a lot. All the reserve players want to
improve. This year my objective is to do the best I can for the reserve team … Guardiola
congratulated me and said well done. He has been very good to me”.
Fontàs: “It was the perfect Gamper, I’m very happy”
One player who has been promoted to the first team already, Andreu Fontàs, was just
as thrilled to beat Napoli 5-0: “It was the perfect Gamper, I’m very happy” he
said. “The players coming from the reserve team know what it’s all about. It is the
biggest merit we have”.
Seydou Keita, who was named man of the match, explained that this season they are going to
have to be more careful than ever, because “now everyone wants to beat Barça”.
