Barça B have beaten Xerez 2-1 in their first home match of the season with goals from Jonathan Soriano and Saul Berjón.
Luis Enrique’s youngsters shot into the lead after just 2 minutes
thanks to some neat footwork from Jonathan Soriano and Nolito. The reserves continued to create
plenty of chances throughout the opening 45 minutes but were rocked by a Mario Bermejo equalizer
just a minute before halftime.
The rhythm dropped a little after the break and the two sides shared
possession. However, Barça B persisted in attack and were rewarded for their efforts when Saul
Berjón got his debut Club goal. The impetus swung in Barça’s favour and Barça remained fully
in charge for the rest of the match.
A large part of the Board, including Club president Sandro Rosell and
first vice-president for sport Josep Maria Bartomeu, together with director of professional
football Andoni Zubizarreta, was present in the stadium to cheer on the reserves.
