Back on the winning trail (2-0)
Aida Soriano
Barca B got back into the winning groove with a 2-0 win over Elche this afternoon, as Jonathan Soriano and Nolito grabbed the goals for a convincing win.
In the first of their two successive home games, Barca B bounced back from last week’s
trouncing to see off Elche. Luis Enrique sent out a three man defence and an attacking set up with
two attacking full backs who put in a good game with plenty of control and intensive work to echo
their performances in the first two league games.
Barca controlled the game for the first 45 minutes, but were unable to
finish off their possession with goals and Miño needed to be on his toes early on with a couple of
good saves from Palanca and Kike Mateo as the hosts struggled to settle.
Chances
Edu Oriol, who was active throughout, got the first chance for Barca B, but it was from set
pieces that Luis Enrique’s team looked most dangerous, with Muniesa and Bartra getting on the
end of two excellent crosses from Jonathan Dos Santos.
Jonathan Soriano opens the scoring
After half an hour or so, Luis Enrique’s team found themselves
penned into their half as Elche pressured them, but just as things looked worse, Jonathon Soriano
put Barca B one up. The goal came after Nolito had set up Sergi Roberto for a shot, which
ricocheted off Soriano and left the Elche keeper flat footed.
Familiar style
Barca B found more space in the second half and began to play their more
familiar passing game, as Nolito and Jonathan Soriano both had chances to make it 2-0. Elche tried
to hit Barca B on the break, but the Barca defence and Miño held firm, before Nolito grabbed the
second to ensure the team’s third win of the season.
