Betis v Barça B postponed due to rain
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Luis Enrique’s side has not played today’s game because the rain that had inundated Seville for three days left the surface of the Benito Villamarín pitch waterlogged.
The Barça B match was called off an hour before kickoff at 16.00. Match
official Juan Martínez Munuera decided that the game between Andalusians and Catalans could not go
ahead on such an unplayable surface. It has been raining non-stop for days in the host city and in
some areas of the pitch there was nothing but water.

Nothing has been decided regarding the date of the rearranged fixture, and with Betis still
involved in the Copa del Rey, the third week of Decemsber and first week of January are out of the
question.

Three previous cases
This is not the first time that a Barça expedition has travelled to Andalusia only to have their
match cancelled. In 1997/98 and 2003/04 the first team were away to Betis, but the weather
scuppered the chances of playing the match. In 2005/06, Barça were in the same city to play
Sevilla, and once again the heavy rain meant the game was called off.
