Points shared at the Mini (0-0)
Aida Soriano
Barça B and Valladolid shared the points after a goalless draw at the Mini Estadi this evening. There were plenty of chances for both teams, but neither was able to make the killer punch.
Given the quality of the opposition, who began their first game under new coach Javier Torres Gómez
and their desperation to bounce back up to the top flight, this was a good point for Barça B and
only some good keeping and poor shooting kept the game goalless.
Visitors suffocate Barça B
Valladolid managed to suffocate Barça’s creative style with their
pressure and the visitors had Luis Enrique’s team under the cosh as the youngsters were
forced to defend en masse. Jesús Rueda twice got ahead of his defender and came close to
threatening Jordi Masip’s goal.
Barça sparkle
After half an hour though, Barça B began to sparkle and Carmona hit the
post after combining with Dos Santos and Montoya, then Nolito had the best chance of the game so
far, when he met another Montoya cross at the far post, only for a defender to turn his effort away
for a corner.
Great chance for Valladolid
Valladolid decided to sit back and hit Barça B on the break and on 41 minutes, Sisi had the
chance to make it 0-1, only for his shot to go just inches wide.
End-to-end stuff
Both teams then had chances after the break, with Dos Santos coming
close from a free kick and Javi Guerra forcing Masip into a good save. Arzo and Soriano kept the
chances coming soon after, but both saw their efforts hit the woodwork. The last quarter of an hour
was Barça’s though as Carmona, Nolito and Soriano all saw chances go begging, but the game
ended goalless. The point mean Barça stay near the top, with 24 points and a game in hand ahead of
their visit to Seville on Wednesday for the re-scheduled game against Betis.
