Still going up (2-0)
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Barça B played a difficult match in the Miniestadi against Rapitenca but still ran out winners with goals by Gai and Toribio.
Barça’s reserve team has won at home in a game where they had to fight to get the three
points.
Tough opponents
The match didn’t get off to a good start for Barça B
as Rapitenca played skilfully on the break and put Guardiola’s team under a lot of pressure
in the first 15 minutes with very direct football. However, in the 17th minute Barça B went ahead
when Jeffren’s shot hit the woodwork and the rebound was tucked away by Gai to make it 1-0.
From then on Barça B played with more freedom and the match became easier for the locals.
Jeffren continued to create chances and both Dimas and Pedrito went close, but no more goals were
scored in the first half.
Goal that wraps things up
The start of the second half was again difficult for the
Barça B. They continued to look for a second goal to get something of a cushion but Rapitenca
managed to hold out. Finally Toribio was able to fire home a left-foot drive from outside the box
past the visitors’ goalkeeper Jordi at just the right time.
Jeffren man of the match
Even though Jeffren didn’t score either of the game’s two goals, he did provide
the key assists for Gai and Toribio. Jeffren fought throughout the 90 minutes to help win the game
and his and his team-mates’ work-rate was excellent. The way the Barça reserves play for each
other and the team is admirable.
