Barça B have qualified for the second round of the promotion play-offs after a resounding 6-0 win against Castillo. The team snuffed out their opponents with their quick, lively game.
Barça B are now only one step away from a return to the second division B. The youth side, who
drew 0-0 in the first leg, completely outplayed Castillo in the second leg to run out 6-0 winners
in the first play-off game. Guardiola’s side came out blazing and killed the game off inside
half an hour, having gone 3-0 up. Goals from Dimas (2), Guerra (2), Pedrito and Chico had the
Miniestadi in raptures, despite the rain. Now the final hurdle will be against either Langreo or
Barbastro.
Stunning start
Barça started with a very offensive line up, with Gai, Pedrito, Vazquez and Guerra in attack.
From the start, with a quick, lively game, the side showed a technical ability much superior to
that of Castillo. The youngsters didn’t take any chances on the first leg 0-0 and played as
if they actually had a mountain to climb. And it was only a 1-0 they needed! This they achieved in
the 10th minute when Dimas finished off an excellent build up in the middle.
Game over after 30 minutes
Pep Guardiola’s charges had their opponents pinned into their own half and created lots
of chances down the flanks and from set plays. The second goal, in fact, came from a Pedrito free
kick on the wing. First Chico made contact and then Emilio Guerra finished off, making it 2-0 (14
min). Castillo, whose game was excessively physical, tried to slow the game down with some time
wasting tactics, but to no avail. And just on the half hour Pedrito scored the third, latching on
to a sublime inside pass from Victor Vazquez.
High intensity
With the game well under control, Barça B took a break from attack. Despite this, they almost
had a fourth through Dimas just before half time. In fact, it was Dimas who did add a fourth in the
50th minute following a defensive error from the Canarians. It was the start of another half with
the same intensity as the first.
Goal spree
Barça were enjoying themselves and pushed for more. Pedrito had two great chances – one
against the post – before Chico made it five in the 70th minute, heading home another free
kick from the wing. The onslaught continued with a long range effort from Abraham which hit the bar
(73 min) and then finally the sixth goal, again from the boots of Guerra. Castillo, on the other
hand, didn’t have one shot on target throughout the whole game.
