No luck for reserves (0-2)

It was an unlucky afternoon for Barça Atlètic at the Miniestadi as Alcoia took the three points with a 0-2 win.

Luis Enrique’s team were unlucky to go down to the visitors who scored their first against the run of play just after Nolito had hit the bar. Linares made it two in the second half and Barca Atletic’s hopes of a comeback were thwarted when a Goran Maric goal was wrongly adjudged offside and Abraham then hit the woodwork.

Bright start

Barça Atlètic started strong and were soon in charge of the game, with Nolito hitting the bar after a great solo run on just 4 minutes. Five minutes later though, Alcoia gave an early warning of their intentions when Sergio Mora came close with an effort that went just over the bar. Luis Enrique’s team were not shaken though and continued to dominate and create chances.

Against the run of play

However, just when Barca were playing at their best, the visitors went ahead. Rafa broke down the right and his cross was only half cleared by Verdes to Diego Jimenez who volleyed in a fine goal.

Alcoia make it two and Maric goal denied

The visitors came out the stronger after the break and Linares came close with a header that went just too high on 48 minutes, but the same player made no mistake with his second chance to put Alcoia two up. Barca swarmed forward in an attempt to get back into the game and the ref slipped up by ruling a perfectly legal Maric goal offside before Abraham saw his effort hit the bar from a well worked free kick.
