Full steam ahead (3-2)
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Barça Atlètic are unbeaten in 14 games, which beats the best streak so far under Luis Enrique, which was 13 last season. And they have also consolidated their second place, a point behind leaders Sant Andreu.
The second half of the reserve team’s season has started with a win at the Miniestadi against
Badalona, and that was despite going behind twice. The second division is beckoning for Barça B.
Early goal
Barça got off to a slow start against a strong Badalona, who played
with two strikers and scored with the first attack of the game, Diego Torres converting an odd goal
from the edge of the area.
Luis Enrique’s side needed to find a quick response and they got it in the 12th minute
when Montoya broke free down the right and put the ball past visiting keeper Nolito.
Even match
It was an action packed first half, with Badalona bouncing back ahead
on 25 minutes with a Ferrón run down the right that led to Ivan Mateo finishing the move with a
well-struck shot. But moments after, Edu Oriol and Soriano combined in a one-two that saw the
latter claim his tenth goal of the season.
Late in the half, both Fontàs and Nolito could have put FCB ahead, but Rubén was quick to
intervene on both occasions.
Soriano, decisive
The second half was a far more stuttering affair, with the two sides
caught in a deadlock. Barça enjoyed most of the chances, and probably deserved the three points,
but as time dragged on, it looked like they were going to have to be content with a point. But
justice was served up in the 86th minute when a terrific pass from Nolito found the ever-reliable
Soriano, who slotted the ball home for an important win.
