Back to winning ways (5-0)

Barça Atlètic chalked up another home win on Saturday, thrashing Gava 5-0 with goals from Rueda, Elvis, Nolito, Soriano and Gai Assulin.
After going 14 games unbeaten, 12 wins and two draws Barca Atletic lost 1-0 to Mallorca B a
fortnight ago and only drew 2-2 with Benidorm in their next game, but they got back to winning ways
with a convincing win over Gava at the Mini Estadi on Saturday.
Chances from the off
Luis Enrique’s team were making chances right from the start with
Elvis shooting wide on 4 minutes after being set up by Montonya and Gai down the left and two
minutes later Rueda opened the scoring with a long range effort to mark his 22nd birthday.
Space to exploit
The goal forced Gava to come out and attack and that gave Barca Atletic
plenty of space to exploit, though they were at times a little to imprecise to take advantage.
Muniesa made a good stop on 36 minutes, which proved to be Gava’s first and only chance of
the game and in the resulting counter attack, Nolito set up Elvis for the second. Nolito was again
the provider two minutes later, but this time Luque was unable to make it three with just the
keeper to beat.
Penalty
Barca didn’t let up after the break and on 49 minutes, Gai set up
Elvis, whose shot was saved by Marcos, the Gava keeper, who then stopped Luque’s effort on
the rebound. Three minutes later, the third goal came when Nolito converted a penalty after
he’d been brought down in the box by Marco to take his tally to seven for the season.
Two more to finish the game off
Two late goals from Soriano and Gai, after good work from Sergi Roberto, rounded off a
successful afternoon for the reserves, who confirmed their second spot with 47 points ahead of next
week’s visit to eighth place Denia.
