Leaders! (9-3)
Cristina Collado
Barça Senseit pulverised Carnicer Torrejón 9-3 in their fifth consecutive win and are now sitting pretty at the top of indoor football’s Division of Honour.
It was the first match without Fernandao. Pedrinho was also absent while Rafa Muñoz had to go off
in the 26th minute due to a twisted ankle. Despite these setbacks, Barça Senseit destroyed Carnicer
Torrejón with 9 goals and a performance that delighted the crowd in the Palau. Thanks to the win,
Barça are now top of the Division of Honour tied on 13 points with MRA Navarra.
An avalanche of chances
Barça took an early lead thanks to a goal from a free kick from Javi
Rodríguez with less than two minutes on the clock. There followed a glut of chances, the best of
which was a great pass from the captain for Rafa Muñoz that was deflected by Carnicer goalkeeper
Jesús.
Igor also had a great chance in an individual move finally deflected by the goalkeeper.
Inevitably, Igor got on the score sheet in the 7th minute connecting with pass from Dani Fernández.
A nervy finish to the first half
The chances kept on coming and Barça could have built up a bigger lead with Cáceres. Juan
Carlos López, Dani Fernández and Javi all going close. However, it was Carnicer who scored just
before halftime through Juanpe.
And things could have got worse after Barça Senseit accumulated six fouls but Paco Sedano
missed the penalty for the Madrid-based club.
Injury and goal
Carnicer had their only opportunity to change the course of the match in
the opening minutes of the second half. Luís Valente put his team level within two minutes and then
Rafa Muñoz had to go off with a twisted ankle.
The match could have gone either way until Juan Carlos López put Barça back in the driving
seat just one minute after the injury blow, and from that moment on there was only one winner.
Hat trick for Dani Fernández
While in the first half the Barça players missed a lot of good chances, the story in the
second half was totally different. PC got the fourth and a minute later Dani Fernández showed just
why he one of the best penalty takers to make it 5-2 with fifteen minutes to go.
Carnicer wanted at least a draw and took the risk of taking off the
goalkeeper but the tactic backfired when Dani Fernández scored the sixth from his own half in an
empty goal. Igor did the same a couple of minutes later and Dani completed his hat trick with
another penalty.
Debut for Sepe
The Barça recital was finished off by Javi Rodríguez. While the players celebrated the ninth
goal, youth squad player Sergio Sierra, known as Sepe, came on to make his first team debut in the
Division of Honour. Jaison scored a consolation third for Carnicer just before the final whistle.
