A great comeback (5-3)
Cristina Collado
Barça Mobicat has won 5-3 against Gestesa. In a hard-fought game, Barça managed to come back from behind twice. The visitors fought till the dying moments, but in the end Barça’s character and attitude won the day.
The game began with a minute’s silence, in memory of Xavi Fernández’s father, who was
in charge of material for Barça Mobicat, and for the three children who died in a sports hall in
Sant Boi de Llobregat (Barcelona) as a result of the strong gales which have wreaked havoc in
Catalonia.
When the game got underway, Guadalajara got a two-goal lead, but with a leader’s
determination, Marc Carmona’s team turned the score around in just 15 seconds. In the second
half, Gestesa went ahead again, but the “Blaugranes” once again pulled back from
behind, and with three points, they consolidate their position at the top of the table.
Gestesa take the lead
The game started badly for the “Blaugranes”, and Minhoca would have scored twice
had it not been for Cristian. Unfortunately, Charlie got a rebound from the second save and put the
ball in the net.
Gestesa had Barça’s high-scoring attack under control, and they
also had more chances. A great individual move by Jordi Illa put Cristian’s reflexes to the
test.
Barça Mobicat’s best chance came in the tenth minute, when Carlos Muñoz recovered the
ball in defence and passed to Fernandao moving up the left wing. He crossed to Jordi Sánchez, but
his shot was deflected for a corner. This corner resulted in Gestesa’s second goal, after a
rapid counter-attack from Keny made it 0-2.
Two goals in 15 seconds
Guadalajara’s joy was short-lived, as Barça pulled back two goals in just 15 seconds.
First from Javi Rodríguez and then 15 seconds later, when Saad Assís had recovered the ball and
laid a fast pass on to Fernandao. Despite having more chances from Javi Rodríguez and Jordi
Sánchez, Barça got to half time with a 2-2 draw.
Sending-off and goal
After a slow start, Saad Assís and Jordi Sánchez gave ceded Barça
goal-keeper Didac Plana some work. Barça suffered a setback when player PC got sent off for two
minutes, and in the resulting free-kick, Minhoca got the third goal for the visitors.
Captain evens score
Gestesa withheld, and in the end it was down to captain Javi Rodríguez
to come on and even the score. Gestesa then began to play Minhoca as a keeper-player. Four minutes
later, Barça Mobicat went ahead for the first time in the game, this time from a Saad free-kick.
As if that was not enough, Juan Carlos López took advantage of an empty Gestesa goal by
taking a long shot from his own half, makinhg it 5-3. With three points, Barça Mobicat consolidate
their position at the top of the table.
