Leaders beaten (0-2)
Cristina Collado
FC Barcelona were back in League action to inflict their first defeat of the season on leaders Inter Movistar .It was a strong performance from Barca and well timed just before the Cup begins.
In front of a full house at the Pavelló Caja Madrid in Alcalà d’Henares, Barca silenced the
home crowd with a 0-2 win. Before the game there was a salute to the 9 European Champions -6 from
Inter and 3 from Barca: Javi Rodríguez, Cristian Domínguez and Fernandao.
Defences on top
The two teams boast the least goals conceded in the league -35- and defences were
on top in the first half and keepers Luís Amado and Cristian Domínguez were in fine form . Although
Saad hit a post and PC came close shooting wide after being set up by Santos, the teams went in
goalless after 20 minutes.
PC and Chico get the goals
Pc didn’t miss out in the second half after again being set up by Santos and opened the
scoring on 3 minutes and Barac now took control, doubling their lead when Saad slipped a free kick
to Chico to fire home seven minutes later.
8 minutes of all out attack
Home coach Jesús Candelas went for a keeper/player option bringing on Schumacher
with 8:28 left and he tested Cristian with a powerful shot from a corner, but the keeper was equal
to it and to a double effort from Daniel to defend his goal and keep out the leaders for a well
deserved win for Barca.
