Marc Carmona’s team keep accumulating points and stringing wins together. This afternoon they
overcame Playas Castelló in a game where they were leading 1-5 with eight minutes to go. They kept
up the decent form of recent weeks and today, against an opponent desperate for points, they worked
hard to get the three points.
Barça Alusport were ahead for almost the whole game. The Catalans went one up with a goal
from Fernandao (5'), but five minutes later, Ruben equalised. Within a minute, however, Wilde made
it 1-2 and the score stayed that way until half-time.
Good chances
The first half saw 20 minutes of excellent play from Barça, defending well and
attacking with a lot of consistency. The only thing missing was the final definition, the only
black mark in the first half. The home keeper, Iñaki, and four shots hitting the woodwork,
prevented Barça from running away with the game.
At the start of the second half though, Alusport found the success that
had been missing in the first half. The team started very effectively and Jordi Torras and
Fernandao, in a couple of minutes, made the score 1-4.
The minutes were ticking away and Fran Torres’s players couldn’t find a way to
break down the Barça defense, with Cristian having a good game in goal. The home manager decided to
change tactics and brought on the goalkeeper-player.
This tactic brought the game into a new dimension. Barça Alusport had to defend deeply
against Castello’s numerical superiority, and the home side moved the ball around looking for
openings to reduce the goal difference. Carmona's team, in line with recent games, defended well
and Jordi Torras even got the fifth goal, taking his personal tally to two. Carlos, first, and
Ruben, a bit later, reduced the difference for Castelló, who never gave up.
