Although Barça’s final placing wasn’t at stake, the win gave them the highest number of
points in their history -70 and Marc Carmona’s players showed hard work and commitment,
particularly in the second half, to take the win.
Chico and Jordi Torras both sat out the game with injury and were able to communicate the
fact that Triman Navarra will be their quarter final opponents. First though, there is the Spanish
Cup game against Inter Movistar in Toledo next Saturday.
Igor, titular
With one eye on that game in Toledo, Igor was given a run out, though he only
managed to play the first half of the game after noticing a twinge.
Wilde tested Toñete early on with a number of shots, whilst Paco Sedano was called on to make
a good stop from his ex teammate Juan Carlos López, who was greeted with a massive banner at the
Palau.
Goals fly in
However, it was Martín Amas in an individual action, who made it 0-1,
only for Saad to equalise almost immediately afterwards, when he put away a throw in from Igor, who
then limped off in some pain, at the front post.
Carmona called a time out but then Miguelin made it 1-2 and Javi Rodríguez, equalised after a
good cross from Fernandão. However, Manacor again showed why they have been such an impressive side
this season when before the break Carlos López found himself alone in front of Sedano to make it
2-3 - though the Catalan made a point of not celebrating his strike.
Insistent
Cristian came on for Paco Sedano in goal to try and pressure Manacor a little more
and Lin, Fernandão and Carlos all had chances to equalise as the team turned up the heat and
continued to treat the fans to some good football, the highlight of which was a lovely one touch
move that the youngster Èric Martel finished by shooting over. Finally, it was Paulinho, putting
through his own net, who made it 3-3.
Time was running out now and it looked as if Barça would have to settle for a draw until they
robbed a ball in midfield and Lin was able to catch Manacor’s keeper off his line and give
them the win with just 48 seconds left to play.
