Barça Alusport into cup quarters

Barça Alusport have made it into the last eight of the Copa del Rey by winning at the Municipal de Santa Coloma in a derby resolved by first half goals from Saad and Javi Rodríguez.

Marfil did their bit in a tight derby, but time again were thwarted by Barcelona’s brilliant keeper Cristian, who is having a terrific season.- He was forced to make some very early saves before Barça awoke and went ahead in the 4yh minute with a right-footed strike from Saad.

It was tough for Santa Coloma, who had done nothing wrong, and the game continued with the respective keepers grabbing all the attention. Javi Rodríguez latched onto a fantastic long pass from Torras to make it 2-0 in the first half. Both sides reached their fifth fould before the interval, and once again Cristian produced the goods to save a last second double penalty.

In the second half, Marfil did all they could to get back into the game, but just could not find the way, not even when they went for a rush goalie. Neither could Barcelona get the third goal to really sentence the match, and there was no further scoring in the second half, which ended with Barça moving one step closer to their first ever Copa del Rey title.
