Sixty-nine days after lifting the League title, Barça Alusport were back at work with a win over El
Pozo that puts them into Sunday’s final against either Carnicer Torrejón or Inter Movistar,
as they look for their fourth title of what has been a memorable 2011.
Bright start
Both teams put their best starting teams out, with Cristian, Fernandao, Saad, Lin
and Torras for Barça and Rafa, Esquerdinha, Miguel, Salgado and Kike for El Pozo. Barça made the
brighter start, dominating early on and taking the lead with a great shot from Jordi Torras and
although last season’s MVP Miguelin tried to lift El Pozo, Cristian was soon showing the form
that made last year such a success.
Carmona was able to make great
use of his bench and had already changed his starting five within the first five minutes. Sergio
Lozano enjoyed his first minutes as a Barça player, but it was his ex-Segovia teammate Esquerdinha
who drew El Pozo level. Barça soon hit back though, with a goal from Ari, after great work from
Torras and a good assist by Wilde.
Cristian also played his part and pulled off one particularly fine double save, which seemed
to calm any Barça nerves as Lin again received a pass from Wilde to make it 3-1 at the break.
Two quick goals
Lin was quickly off the mark in the second half as he rounded off a well worked
dead ball move and Wilde made it five soon after with a shot that came after a corner had not been
cleared.
With El Pozo employing their outfield keeper, they pulled one back through Adri, but despite
their numerical inferiority, Barça closed down well and Ari Santos got the sixth goal. El
Pozo’s all out attacking served only to give Cristian the opportunity to pull off some great
stops and Wilde then rounded off a great move to make it seven.
