Cadenas, New Barça Cifec Coach

Manolo Cadenas will be the next coach of FC Barcelona Cific. The Coach from Leon came to an agreement with FC Barcelona to lead the handball team for the next two seasons, with the option of an extra season.
With Xesco Espar taking on the new role of head of physical trainers at the club, Manolo Cadenas
with steer the blaugrana handball team. Cadenas is a coach with a wealth of experience within the
Spanish handball circuit. He has coached teams for 20 years and has consistently achieved results.
He will be officially unveiled in the next few days.
Long and Intense career
Cadenas started as a coach in Leganes, where he remained for 11 years coaching promising
young talent. The Valdevimbre (Leon) coach took on his first professional role in Oviedo, where he
was at the helm for three years. He won his first silverware with Teka Cantabria, where he won the
Copa Asobal and the Recopa, a title he went on to win three times. In these two seasons, the team
from Cantabria finished second in the Liga. He then moved on to Valladolid for four seasons,.
However, was unable to get his hands on a title.
Success in Leon
His first team, which he was with for 12 years, was Ademar de Leon. With his home town club,
he won the Liga Asobal (2001), two Recopas (1999 and 2005), a Copa del Rey (2002) and a Copa Asobal
(1999). The coach leaves the club with his head held high, having assured qualification into next
year’s Champions League.
A coach with character
Cadenas is famous for coaching his teams hard; disciplined and professional. Like his
predecessor, he is characterized by his ability to work hard and have grand repertoire of tactics
due to his many years of experience. Under his guidance, players such as Iker Romero and Juanin
Garcia have grown to become leading players of their times.
An ambitious coach unafraid of fighting for his cause; he does not like losing and comes to
Barça with a hunger for success.
Strong following of Basketball
If he had not been a handball coach, he would have coached basketball. Manolo Cadenas is an avid
follower of basketball, which he practises sometimes in his free time. He has the book
“Sacred Hoops” by Phil Jackson, coach of the LA Lakers. He will have the chance to see
some good basketball as he will be close to Dusko Ivanovic.
