Lozano and Kasper join handball squad

FC Barcelona Cifec have completed the signings of Kasper Hvdit and Demetrio Lozano from Portland San Antonio.
Demetrio Lozano and Kasper Hvdit will make the move from Portland San Antonio to Barça for next
season. Lozano returns to FC Barcelona six years after moving away and has signed a four-year deal
with an option for a further year. Kasper has joined on a three-year contract and will compete with
Barrufet and Losert in goal.
Lozano, a familiar face in the Palau
Lozano, who won two ASOBAL leagues and two Champions Leagues in his
previous spell with the club, returns to Barça some six years after leaving to play for Kiel and
Portland. The 31 year-old will add consistency to the defence and strengthen the left wing. He also
brings solid experience and a winning mentality.
Demetrio Lozano started playing handball with his hometown club, Juventud Alcalá, spending
two seasons with the first team. He then played three seasons with Ademar León before joining Barça
– the immensely successful Dream Team - in the 1998-99 season, becoming part of the side that
won 7 titles out of 7. He’ll be reunited with David Barrufet in the players’ dressing
room, and Enric Masip and Xavi O’Callaghan, now in charge of the section.
Lozano is a regular in the Spanish national squad and won a World Championship in Tunisia in
2005 and a bronze medal in the Sydney 2000 and Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
Kasper Hvdit: goalkeeping efficiency
Kasper Hvdit is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, with an explosive
action and superb positioning. He has tremendous reflexes and transmits his intense concentration
to his team-mates. His greatest strength is his level of concentration and the enthusiasm he places
into everything he does. He is a charismatic player who has left his mark in every team he has
played. He is a key figure in the Danish national squad
Kasper Hvdit was born in Frederiksberg (Denmark) on 6th February 1976. He has 159
international caps with Denmark and won a bronze medal in the 2002 and 2004 European Games and
another bronze in the 2007 World Championships in Germany.
He started his sporting career in Spain with Cangas in the 1997-98 season, moved to the
German league with Lemgo and then signed for Ademar León, where he stayed for five seasons.
He’s spent the last three seasons with Portland San Antonio.
