In case of any doubt (8-3)
Carles Cascante
There were no surprises as FC Barcelona Sorli Discau once again shown their dominance of national roller hockey, leaving no option for Liceo in an emphatic 8-2 victory to secure a place in the OK League final.
The game was a one-sided affair that Barça commanded from start to finish, with the first goal
coming early from the stick of David Páez. The younger of the two Argentinian brothers was to go on
to play a leading role in the win, scoring two more, serving an assist to Mia Ordeig and recovering
balls aplenty. It was also great to see junior player Jordi Ferrer coming on for three minutes at
the end, and even managing to add a late goal to the FC Barcelona Sorli Discau tally.
Early goal sets the rhythm
On Thursday, Liceo has done all they could to keep the pace of the game slow, but that game
plan went out the window at the Palau no sooner had David Páez made it 1-0 with a low drive just
inside Jaume Llaverola’s left post. Three minutes into the game and Barça Sorli Discau were
already in control, and from then on played in a cool and composed fashion that had the Galician
outfit floundering in desperation. 18 minutes from the break, however, a penalty was omitted on
Lamas, which was taken by Argentinian Payero and stopped twice by Egurrola.
The first half ended with a goalscoring flurry from the home side, with David Páez scoring
his second of the night and then Miquel Masoliver making it 3-0 to Barça a minute from the break.
Barça in control
The second half got off to a blistering start. Quim Paüls’ side
decided it was time to entertain and delighted the 2,000 fans in the Palau with a memorable
offensive display. Carlitos López missed a penalty that would have made it 4-0, but Mia Ordeig
converted a David Páez assist soon after, while Miquel Masoliver was on target just three minutes
later (5-0).
Carlitos López then added a couple more goals against his former club to put the Catalans
into a spectacular 7-0 lead. Liceo then grabbed some consolation with seven minutes left on the
clock and Barça easing off the pace now victory was a certainty. Alves, Álvarez and Josama banged
home once each, while young Jordi Ferrer came on for the last few minutes and was the author of
Barça’s eighth and final goal. Next Tuesday at 21.00, Barça will play the first leg of the
final against the winner of the other semi final clash between Reus and Noia.
