A great result (5-1)
Sònia de Alba
Barça Sorli Discau are off to a dream start in the Spanish Roller Hockey Super Cup after winning the first leg 5-1 against Noia Freixenet. Borregán, Ordeig and Ordeig scored in a game that means the side can afford to relax going into the away leg.
With their fans behind them, Barça Sorli Discau are well on their way to roller hockey success in
the Spanish Super Cup.
Minute’s silence for Josep Lorente
The game began with a minute’s silence in memory of a man who would certainly have been
at the Palau had he still been alive. Josep Lorente died on Sunday at the age of 77.
Beto opens scoring
Both sides attacked from the off. The team from Sant Sadurní were over-aggressive though and
a David Cáceres penalty on Sergi Panadero after six minutes was converted by Alberto Borregán.
Barça continued solid in defence. Sub Eloi Mitjans, ‘Jepi’ Selva and David
Cáceres combined in the 12th minute to pile on the pressure but Barçá goalkeeper Egurrola was
providential in keeping the attack at bay.
Mia on to score
13.14 before the break, more good news for Barça Sorli Discau. Following a blue card for
David Páez, Mia Ordeig came on, despite taking a serious knock to the head in the league game last
weekend with Cemex Tenerife.
Having been given the medical go-ahead, Ordeig came straight on to find himself in an
attacking position, and surprised the Noia defence with a well-placed shot that had De Moya beaten.
Noia stunned
2-0 down, Noia had a mountain to climb. De Moya showed that
frustration by breaking down a Barça counter attack in such a way that he was punished with blue.
But Borregán’s penalty was turned away by Albert Bel. 2-0 remained the score at the break.
‘Pana’ gets three; Beto, the fourth
Barça came out just as strong in the second half and it was not long before the home fans
were celebrating Panadero making it 3-0.
Carlos López and Mia Ordeig also put De Moya to the test, before Borregán placed the ball
perfectly in the corner of the goal to make it 4-0 to Barça. They were cruising it.
Panadero responds to consolation goal
It was seconds after that goal that Cabestany grabbed the only score for the visitors, but
the ball was barely back in play before Panadero had made it 5-1.
With the Palau on song, Barça Sorli Discau visit Noia on February 25, having already gained a
massive lead in the quest to win their fourth Spanish Super Cup.
